Hotel Dylan Customer Reviews:

Excellent:

“I will recommend this hotel to my co-writers”

The rooms were clean, if a little small, but you only sleep there. I did not try the hotel restaurant, but the prices there seemed high to me. Wife and I attended a play while in town and we walked from the hotel to the theater district. This will likely be the favored hotel when we need to come to NYC again.

Stayed two nights at the Dylan Hotel in October 2009. One block from Grand Central Station and a 10 minute walk to Times Square and the theater district.
The room was average in size for NY standards. The truffles and a nice bottle of water greeted me in the room. I was impressed with the front desk staff. I needed to print a form from a memory stick and the front desk staff was happy to help. They even faxed it at no charge.
Bought a half price ticket in Times Square to a new musical called Rock of Ages and really enjoyed the event! Walked back to the hotel at 10:30PM and felt safe!

Comfortable and quiet sanctuary on the heart of id-town Manhattan. we didn't partake of breakfast as there is so much choice right on your doorstep amongst the office workers. it was great to lie in bed a t night and listen to the fire engines cacophony up 5th avenue a couple of blocks away - peaceful little hotel.

Poor:

    “Horrible service”

We had bad service throughout our stay at the Dylan Hotel. We had a room with no water pressure and no hot water. We called the front desk staff about this and on the second day of our stay they had engineers etc working in our room trying to fix the problem. They did not provide us with a different room, but rather had strangers working in our room during our "romantic" stay in NY. Finally by the end of the second day we finally had water in our room.

When we were leaving, the valet had lost our car key. They finally found it but my boyfriend noticed that they had taken off and not returned the car antennae. We sat there waiting for them to find the antennae and, after about a one hour delay from the time we checked out, we were finally on our way.

Worst hotel experience ever. I contacted the hotel manager about the hotel room experience but heard nothing back. Clearly this hotel does not care about customer opinions.

    “I hated this hotel”

It claims to have 4 stars but at least three of them were hiding when I was there. It was 80+ degrees in my room and they couldn't do anything about it. Not much point in staying in a hotel where it is too uncomfortable to sleep. I flung all the windows open (it was cool outside) but it didn't really help. The room was dingy, tarted up with a few new fittings but tired looking underneath, Old dingy chipped furniture, horrible carpet and cheap looking curtains. But the free wireless internet worked - for a few minutes at a time. The showers are positively dangerous. Don't turn the temp up too high - because if you need to turn it down you wont be able to turn the knob with wet hands. Awful
