Need a wonderful place to stay in New York? Reserve now for a room in the Big Apple’s Metropolitan Hotel. Located at Lexington Avenue and 51st Street in the heart of Midtown Manhattan's fashionable East Side, Manhattan Metropolitan Hotel (The Metropolitan Hotel) was originally designed by architect Morris Lapidus. Manhattan Metropolitan Hotel Customer Reviews:

Excellent:

    “Will surely come back”

I just returned from a two-night stay at this hotel and have only positive things to day. Location is great. Steps away from subway and within walking distance to Rockefeller Center and all the great diners. Room was superb, very clean and yes on the smaller side, but that’s New York for you. Hotel staff was excellent and helped us with all of our requests, even checked our luggage the day we were leaving so that we can go out for lunch. This was the New Year’s weekend and they were extremely busy, yet very courteous and professional. I have stayed at other higher level hotels in New York and they do not compare to room clealiness or staff here. I have had an excellent stay here and will definitely return in future.

    “Excellent Hotel”

My wife and I just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel and have nothing but good things to say about it. Very Clean rooms and bathrooms. Excellent service from check-in, concierge, hotel staff and cleaning staff. Excellent location-- right next to the E/F/V and 6 trains, where you can go anywhere in the city from there-- We went everywhere!-- top class restaurants, shows, etc.... while making this excellent hotel our hub-- Walking distance to lots of attractions.. but we tookd the train, walked... and did everything!

“For me, it's the best hotel in NY”

I paid $119 a night during the Holidays for a Queen Bedroom. Great room, with everything I need - comfortable bed, huge plasma TV, great shower. Busy lobby (but I'm not sleeping there, right?), great gym (not an exercise room, they have a very nice gym on the second floor!). Subway in front of the hotel, Cafe Metro next door with everything you would like to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner at very reasonable price (lunch for 3 - salads and subs + drinks - $30). So I wonder why people complain so much about this hotel? If you want luxury in New York you have to pay for it, otherwise enjoy a decent Doubletree hotel in the heart of Manhattan.

    “bedbugs everywhere”

    Hotel review by: Kegoli
    From: Maryland

I'm a bit nauseous as I type this because I keep imagining the flat brown bugs crawling all over my pillow. That was my experience at the Doubletree Metropolitan this past weekend. I woke up at 7 am scratching the heck out of my arms only to find bedbugs crawling on my pillow and the sheets. I was bitten over 16 times, mostly on my arms. I immediately called the front desk and they moved us to another room. They showed concern but I had to demand a full refund on the room as they only originally offered $100 credit. The Safety and Security Manager offered to pick up some Benadryl and another topical cream but that's about where the assistance stopped. They did nothing to educate us about the dangers of transporting the bugs home in your clothes and luggage and I'm only now scrambling to wash/scrub/vacuum everything that was in that hotel room.

“It's not what you think it is”

Needless to say, the suite was not like in the picture or anywhere close. Clearly, this suite was very run down, the roll away was not made up, the safe did not work, and we did not have enought room. The last straw was when they came in to make up the roll away and my daughter laid on the bed and was pained by the springs coming through on the mattress. We had enough and packed up our bags and left without spending any of the 7 days we had booked.

We were never so happy to pay more money for a real hotel, where the service and the amenities told us the management cared and were on top of the details.
